Happy Women’s History Month! In honor of Women’s History Month and my pursuit of honoring more Black and Female Indie Comics and Books, I have decided to promote yet another great comic featuring both of those demographics. Throughout this article, you will find reasons as to why you should support the “Alexis Wyle” series as well as more Black Indie authors!
Are you interested in consuming more indie comics but want more diverse storytelling and protagonists? Are you interested in a story about a fierce and strong warrior who is ready to take over the world by any means necessary? If so Alexis Wyle is absolutely the comic for you!
This story is exclusively created and written by Jamie McAfee. The story itself is drawn and completely illustrated by Marc Renee. I have had the pleasure of promoting this work by being in direct contact with the creator and author of this work herself. Jamie McAfee is one of the greatest world-builders and comic book creators of her generation. This is one of the most efficient and profound stories ever written and it deserves much more coverage than it’s received. I must cover this kind of content and artwork when it’s fully independent yet created with a specific purpose. Alexis Wyle is the future of sci-fi and fantasy and I think it’s time that we accept this artwork and begin pushing it to its greatest potential.
Black female characters must get more advertisements and promotion especially when these stories are largely unheard of in sci-fi and fantasy. Alexis Wyle offers not only these important characteristics but also the importance of strength and keeping up the fight even when all hope seems lost. In addition to the LUNA comic I reviewed here, Alexis Wyle is also an example of how indie stories and comics are the future of fantasy and entertainment at large!
Here is a sneak peek at the first edition of Alexis Wyle and reasons why you should truly purchase and support it!
Synopsis:
It’s been 10 Years since the Takeover…
The battle to save what is left of humanity falls in the hands of Alexis Wyle when the greatest evil, Rapsidous, takes over the planet, wiping out most of the world and leaving little behind. The humans that were left in Glinier, the untouched lands, remained on Earth; the humans that were sucked into another dimension, into the city of Aziar, became “Skins” in the new world. Alexis didn’t understand why she was unique until her heart began to beat differently. Her heart now beats with steel pieces turning, protected by a removable shield.
Powers now run through her as she could be the key to ending it all.
Alexis along with her Infinity-X Team keeps an eye on Aziar, a city filled with robots, magic, and darkness. The stakes are rising and it falls to Alexis and the Infinity-X team to navigate and stop the unending madness this new twisted world bleeds. Although 10 years have passed, Alexis knows this is just the beginning…
Why You Should Support This Project
Black authors in the comic industry rarely get massive support until they are truly able to prove that their story is deserving and they have enough backing. Not only is this series amazing but the capabilities of this series are large and the work that Jamie McAfee has put into the world-building of the story “Alexis Wyle.” This project also features a strong black female character contained within the realm of fantasy and although the genre is heavily becoming more diverse, it could still use a bit more.
Alexis Wyle is a great example of what the future of fantasy can and should look like. We must help get this project off the ground so comic readers and readers of all backgrounds alike can tap into what will be one of the greatest projects in comics history. Supporting this Black-led indie project is important for many industries and artists of color in general. It is an absolute to be able to present the work shown in this project and I cannot wait for more of the issues to be released shortly
